On Detroit’s northwest side, Cooley High School has sat still for more than a decade—boarded up, fenced off, and silenced. The halls that once echoed with pep rallies and regional pride fell quiet after its closure in 2010. Families across generations drove past with grief in their hearts, wondering if the city had forgotten what that building meant to the West Side. Now, the wait is over. The promises are becoming blueprints.
