Mayor Duggan announced starting Thursday the city will begin testing Detroiters age 60 or above for COVID-19 at the State Fairgrounds.

“If you can show you live here, we are going to get you tested as quickly as you want to be tested,” said Duggan.

Duggan hopes to lower the age minimum to 50 soon.

He says data indicates 1 out of 12 Detroiters test positive and the majority don’t show symptoms.

Additionally the mayor announced that the household of any city employee that tests positive can now access rapid tests from Abbott Laboratories.
