The film highlights the everyday experiences of many Black Americans in majority-white spaces. It depicts a budding friendship between a young Black artist (played by J. Rhodes) and his white ally acquaintance. However, the friendship is tested when the artist accuses his ally friend of cultural appropriation, the act of taking aspects of someone else's culture and using those aspects in ways that offend people of that culture.
