Black and white abolitionists smashed into a courtroom at Syracuse, N.Y., and rescued a fugitive slave. Abolitionist William C. Nell published Services of Colored Americans in the Wars of 1776 and 1812, the first extended work on the history of American Blacks. Revised edition of the book was published in 1855 with new title, The Colored Patriots of the American Revolution.
