Levine said Tuesday that the state has had 17 reports of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children or MIS-C: nine confirmed cases, six under investigation.
Emerging as a possible effect of COVID-19, MIS-C is a condition in which body parts – for example, the heart, lung and kidneys among others – become inflamed, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Symptoms of MIS-C include persistent fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, neck pain, swollen lymph nodes and red eyes.
