University of Michigan's Fab Five Alumnus Jimmy King Joins Schechter Wealth Strategies

Schechter Wealth Strategies announces the appointment of Jimmy King as Vice President, Business Development in the Birmingham office. Jimmy was a member of the University of Michigan Men’s Basketball Team from 1991-95 and was part of the “Fab Five” – college basketball’s most talented recruiting class in history.

His previous experience as a professional basketball player, financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, business owner, philanthropist and mentor will make a significant contribution to Schechter’s team of multi-disciplined professionals who develop sophisticated solutions that preserve, leverage and transfer wealth. After leaving The University of Michigan, Jimmy was selected 35th in the NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors where he played for one season. Jimmy also played for the Denver Nuggets, and various teams in the CBA, IBL and ABA . After retiring from basketball, Jimmy went to work as a financial adviser for Merrill Lynch where he gained the skills needed to organize, design, and execute strategic financial plans. Over the last few years, he has spent much of his time working with non-profit organizations that mentor youths in the Detroit area.

He remains active in the community by serving on the Board of the Letter Winners M-Club and on the Finance and Facilities Committee. He also supports the Abayomi Community Development Corporation as a coach, and is the celebrity ambassador for the charity, Wish Upon A Teen in Bloomfield Hills.
